1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books before Kindergarten is a national initiative to promote literacy and phonemic readiness before a child enters kindergarten, as well as strengthening the bond between child and caregiver.

How to Participate

1. Join our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Beanstack Challenge. Head to our Beanstack website or download the app, Beanstack Tracker, to sign up and join the challenge. Once you join, come visit the library to pick up your Bookmark Tracker. 

2. Track your child’s progress using Beanstack to earn virtual badges together. 

3. Each time your child reads 100 books visit the Children’s Room to collect a special sticker for your Bookmark Tracker and a 1 Free Book Coupon for the Friends of the Library Book Sale. If Children’s staff is unavailable please stop by the Circulation Desk to collect your reward. 

4. When your child reads 1,000 Books come visit the Library and get a 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten certificate of completion!
