It’s December already, and that means there’s another long dark winter ahead of us. How are you going to fill the hours and beat back the winter blues? We’ve got a full slate of winter programs to keep you going!
There’s a wonderful concert at the Meeting House next week with The Harper and The Minstrel. They’ll be playing medieval, renaissance and Celtic music to brighten up the dark season.
We’ve got warm beverages at the library every Monday from 9:30 through 1:30 to start off your week. Have some coffee, tea, or cocoa, read the newspapers, check your email, and maybe even meet your neighbors. On December 20th cookbook writer Tammy Doneroe Inman will join us at Curious About Cuisine to talk about New England Desserts: Classic and Creative Recipes for All Seasons. (remember, Curious About Cuisine isn’t the last Wednesday of the month in December, we’re trying to schedule around the holidays!)
If you’re looking for some crafting time, we’ve got the knitting and crochet club on Thursday, December 14th. Bring by your latest project, and we’ll bring out the swift and a ball winder from the Library of Things if there’s some yarn you’ve been meaning to wind. Later that evening, you can come by and take our Rock Painting Masterclass. You could even make it a date night, but don’t forget to register!
In January we’ve got a great slate of programs to get you started in the New Year.
We’ve got the drop-in tech help session, on the last Tuesday afternoon of the month to help you with all of those new devices you got over the holidays, and we’re starting up our English Language Conversation group on Monday, January 29th. Whether you’re interested in practicing your conversational English, or you’re a native speaker looking for a chat, we hope you’ll join us.
If you’re looking to start a new hobby we’ve got a plant exchange on Saturday, January 27th, and on Thursday, January 25th, the Society of American Magicians will be recruiting new members.
And that will take us right up to February which, ok, it’s still winter, but time to be thinking about spring at least. Watch this space to learn more about our upcoming seed library!! We’re very excited to be kicking off this new branch of our Library of Things, and Gretel Anspach, from the Massachusetts Master Gardeners Association is coming on February 21st to teach us about seed starting.
Join us all winter long for these programs and more!
