The Lynnfield Library is Dementia Friendly

Categories:

By Marita Klements, Assistant Director

In our continuing efforts to be a welcoming and useful resource to all Lynnfield residents, the Lynnfield Public Library has been certified as a Dementia Friendly Business by the Indiana University School of Public Health.  This means that our staff has been educated in what we can do in order to make the Lynnfield Public Library a friendly, approachable, and easy to use location for our patrons who are experiencing Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, and other related challenges.

The Goals of the Dementia Friends initiative are to

  • Create an informed, safe and respectful community for people with dementia
  • Raise awareness about Alzheimer’s, transforming attitudes, and moving people to action
  • Have supportive options that foster quality of life for persons touched by the disease and their caregivers and families
  • Engage and include people from diverse communities
  • Create and promote community life that welcomes and involves everyone.

The Lynnfield Library is proud to be part of this initiative.
