Share Your Library Story – Director Abby Porter

When did you get your first library card?

When I was 5 years old – my parents took me to the library at least once a week. I still have my first library card in a frame!

Tell us your favorite thing about the Lynnfield Public Library.

The people – we have such a friendly, welcoming community and staff.

Favorite author/movie?

My favorite authors are Diana Wynne Jones, Robin McKinley, Agatha Christie, Raymond Chandler, Douglas Adams, and Terry Pratchett.

My favorite movie is The Thin Man, but I have a soft spot for any film noir.

Favorite resource?

It is hard to choose a favorite! I love getting audiobooks and ebooks, especially comics, from Hoopla, Comics Plus, and Libby. Kanopy has a really great selection of movies and tv series. And Transparent Languages is helping me learn Japanese!

What are you reading right now?

The Prone Gunman by Jean-Patrick Manchette and A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher. I’m also on volume 107 of One Piece.

What is a tip you tell your friends about using the library?

If you don’t see the materials you want, ask us! We can get things from all over the country and will often purchase requested materials.

Also, get a Boston Public Library e-card! You can use all of their great e-resources without leaving home. This means extra uses on Hoopla!
