Share Your Library Story – Assistant Director Marita Klements

Categories:

There are SO many different things to do at the library that it can be hard to remember them all. We wanted to start a series of interviews with different members of the Lynnfield Community to learn about their favorite things to do here, any tips & tricks they’ve learned along the way, and get some recommendations to add to our TBR lists.

This week, we will hear from Marita Klements, Assistant Director & Head of Adult Services at the Lynnfield Public Library. If you’ve attended a program for adults, you can thank Marita!

When did you get your first library card?

When I was little I lived on the same block as the Stoughton library, and my mom took my brothers and I there at least once a week, often every day.  At that time you could get your library card as soon as you could write your own name, so I spent A LOT of time practicing my letters, and got my library card when I was 3.

Tell us your favorite thing about the Lynnfield Public Library.

The Lynnfield Library has so many great patrons!  As the Programming Librarian, I get to meet so many of them in our book groups and art classes and other programs, and I always enjoy spending time with them.

Favorite author/movie?

There are so many to choose from, but my favorite author is probably Margaret Atwood.  I love that she writes so many things; poetry, novels, even science, and it’s all beautiful to read.  My favorite book by her is The Blind Assassin.  I’ve probably read it a half a dozen times.

Favorite resource?

I love Libby!  Even though I’d always prefer to read a book on paper, I always have a book and an audiobook loaded on my phone in case I get stuck in a slow moving line without a book handy!

What are you reading right now?

Right now I’m reading The Chaos Machine by Max Fisher for the library’s nonfiction book group, The Fellowship of the Rings by Tolkein, and Bull Moon Rising by Ruby Dixon, and listening to Elizabeth of York by Alison Weir.

What is a tip you tell your friends about using the library?

Did you know that libraries have magazines you can check out?  You can often check out the latest issue, and many of them are available digitally as well.
