It’s Saturday night: movie night! The popcorn is popped and tantalizingly buttery. Your favorite candy taunts you, still wrapped, from the end table. You stretch out on the couch (you deserve it). Sure, you could head to the movie theater to see Barbie and Oppenheimer for the seventeenth time. But, for tonight, there’s no need. You have movies at home, and it’s all thanks to your local library.
We are excited to introduce Kanopy, a free video streaming service. Kanopy has tens of thousands of movies, TV shows, documentaries, and Great Courses lectures. Kanopy’s collection includes a host of great choices:
- Hollywood classics like His Girl Friday
- Silent masterpieces like Metropolis
- Academy Award nominees & winners like Triangle of Sadness and Chinatown
- International hits like Rashomon
- BBC mysteries like Father Brown
- Kids’ and family favorites like Charlotte’s Web and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
- TV series like The Librarians
- …and so much more!
All you need is a Lynnfield library card that starts with 21384 and your email address. You can stream from your laptop or download the app. You get 7 credits per month, which means you can watch 7 movies or TV show seasons. Great Courses lectures and Kanopy Kids content do not use any credits!
To get started, head to www.kanopy.com/en/lynnfieldlibrary. Select “Add a Library Card” and follow the steps to create your account. The Kanopy app is available on all Apple and Android products and most Smart TVs (for more information, check here!).
