Autumn is come, and it’s a good time to settle in with a good book. If you’re not sure what to read next, we have a few suggestions!

  • Alison Quill, Circulation

Sleep Tight by J.H. Markert: While this book ended up having some very basic horror tropes, it still had me on the edge of my seat wanting to see how it all ended. Definitely worth a read if you’re curious about thrillers/horror, and a good one to pick up during spooky season!

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides: I know there’s a lot of hype for this book and I did enjoy the twist, however it could have been more fleshed out. Still a solid read if you’re looking for a thriller.

The House Party by Rita Cameron: I didn’t even read the blurb on the inside jacket to see what the plot would even be about, and not knowing what to expect…I liked it!

The Wild Huntress by Emily Lloyd-Jones: I used to exclusively read YA fantasy so picking this one up took me back! The world building was solid and this was the first fantasy book I’ve read that has Welsh mythology and it was really cool!

Just Add Water: My Swimming Life by Katie Ledecky – I really enjoyed this memoir by Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky who is both inspirational and humble. It chronicles her life and accomplishments in the pool while also providing insight on where she draws her strength and inspiration.

Murder on Devil’s Pond by Ayla Rose – This is the first in the new Hummingbird Hollow B&B mystery series. The book takes place in a cozy town in Vermont and I found it had both an intriguing mystery and intriguing characters. Good for fans of Ellery Adams and Ellen Byron.

Birding with Benefits by Sarah Dubb – A contemporary romance centered around a birding contest. Good for fans of Ali Hazelwood and Christina Lauren.

  • Marita Klements, Assistant Director

Happily Never After by Lynn Painter – This is a fun one, a romance novel about two people who don’t want romance.

The Chaos Machine : the inside story of how social media rewired our minds and our world by Max Fisher – I read this one for the library’s Book Lovers group.  It draws some very dark conclusions about the responsibility of social media for our current moment.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams – Don’t Panic!

The Skull: a Tyrolean Folktale by Jon Klassen – Chilling, but somehow very sweet, The Skull is the story of an unlikely friendship between a young girl and — you guessed it — a talking skull. Great for anyone who wants to break into horror with a beautifully illustrated story.Book | eBook | eAudiobook
