In November, the Lynnfield Public Library activated auto-renewals on all items from our network that are checked out from our library. Autorenewal uses an automated process to identify and renew items that are eligible for renewal on the item’s due date. This means that, if an item comes from a NOBLE library–meaning a public or academic library within our consortium of area institutions–our system will attempt to renew that item on your behalf, without you needing to lift a finger!
First, you’ll receive the standard email alerting you that items are due in two days. Then on the actual due date, the items will auto-renew and you will receive a confirmation email. Most items can be renewed up to two times unless another person is waiting for it, but if the item is on hold or out of renewals, the system will not renew it. Either way, you’ll receive an email confirming if the renewal was processed.
Items from non-NOBLE libraries, such as those procured through Commonwealth Catalog or interlibrary loan, cannot be renewed.
Your eligible items will auto-renew regardless of whether or not you have an email address attached to your account, but if you’d like to add one to receive notifications, please call the Library or stop by and let us know.
