Big changes are coming to Kanopy, our free movie and TV streaming service! Starting November 1st, Kanopy will transition from using Play Credits to using Tickets for borrowing content. You will receive 21 Tickets monthly instead of 7 Credits. Here are some fast facts about Tickets:
- You will receive 21 Tickets monthly. Movies, TV shows, and other content will use multiple tickets for each play. The number of Tickets required depends on the length of what you want to watch and the production studio.
- For example, a 90-minute movie might cost 2 Tickets and a three hour movie might cost 4 Tickets.
- A movie from a major studio uses 4 Tickets regardless of its length.
- A season of a TV series whose episodes are a combined 10 hours in length would cost 5 Tickets.
- The Great Courses will require Tickets based on the length of the lecture. You will no longer be able to view an unlimited number of lectures. A majority of lectures will likely cost 5 Tickets each and remain available for 2-3 weeks.
- Kanopy Kids will not require Tickets and will stay unlimited.
- Tickets reset on the first day of each month.
All-in-all, you will be able to view about the same number of movies or TV shows with Tickets as you have been able to with Credits. Again, this change goes into effect November 1st. It might take some getting used to, but we’re happy to help if you have any questions!
