If you’re reading this library blog I hope you already know that the library has deals as good as Black Friday all year long. Not only can you borrow books, magazines and DVDs, we have Streaming movies, Ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines, even puzzles, games, technology, and tools that you can borrow from the library.
That may be, I hear you say, but can the library help me get a washing machine this black friday? Or a new coffee maker? How about a chainsaw? Yes we can!!!
Ok, you can’t borrow a chainsaw or a coffee maker from the Library of Things. But you can do all of your pre-black friday research on Consumer Reports for free through the library! Lynnfield library patrons now have full access to all the product information and ratings on ConsumerReports.org.
From home or in the library, check out comparisons and ratings on a host of products from vacuum cleaners to mattresses to cars, and more. This is additional content beyond the basic Consumer Reports in EBSCO, which is just a digitized version of the magazine. With ConsumerReports.org, patrons can access all the content/ratings/comparisons from the CR website. From home go to our digital resources page, jump or scroll down to
‘General’ and click on Consumer Reports. Enter your valid Lynnfield library card barcode and get ready to research your next purchase. (Note: from home, this database is restricted to library patrons with a valid Lynnfield Public Library card.) No card is needed in the library: use any of our nine public computers – or your mobile device – and choose ‘Online Resources’ from our welcome page. Jump or scroll down to ‘General,’ choose Consumer Reports and begin your product research.
Please call the reference department at 781-334-5411 if you have any questions about EBSCO, ConsumerReports.org, or any of our other databases. Need to check on your library card status? Call 781-334-5411 and ask for the circulation department.
