At the Lynnfield Library, we are always busy. We wanted to give you the opportunity to learn what a librarian does all day! Every few weeks, we’ll be featuring a different staff member to show you what goes on behind the scenes. We’ll be starting off with Abby Porter, Assistant Director and Head of Adult Services:
As Assistant Director and Head of Adult Services, I wear a lot of different hats! I’m in charge when Jennifer Inglis, the Director, is out of the building. I help with policy planning and reports. I plan all of the events and workshops for adults, head up our social media with Lauren, the Head of Youth Services, and Kat, the Head of Circulation. I cover the Reference Desk a couple of times a week and the Circulation Desk as needed. I also make sure the website is running. There is always something new to work on, troubleshoot, or think about! Here is a typical day for me:
9:00-9:30 Answer emails that came in overnight, check our social media accounts for any comments or questions
9:30-10:00 Go over the social media posts for the day and schedule them for posting if needed
10:00-11:00 Meet with Lauren and Kat to talk social media plans for the month
11:00-11:30 Check the website for any updates needed and work on the next Staff Picks blog post
11:30-12:00 Work on advertising for upcoming Yoga program, including creating images, writing a press release, and adding it to Facebook
12:00-1:00 Lunch
